One of my favorite things ever is when the moon shines so brightly there's a moon-shadow. Now, I'm no astrologist or scientist or whatever you call someone who knows stuff like that, but I know that the moon can only function based on it's position in relation to the sun.
How much more true is that for us? If we are called to mimic the other Son, shouldn't our lives be postured in relation to best reflect the Son? So that our lives can glow brightly and cast Jesus-light into the depths of the night.
What happens when you put 16 kids and 3 counselors in the wilderness? No, this isn’t a start of a bad joke, it’s the start to a great week of camp, all orchestrated by our good good God!
Remember Middle School?
That wacky combination of body changes, wire braces, tougher classes, and all the feels...
Not to mention the people. In and out of your life, back and forth like the wind...how did you know who you could count on? Or what to do, for that matter. It was a wild ride, undoubtedly.
What if you could do it again? What would make it better?
Hydro camp has splashed through the first half of the week with water games, swimming, slip n slide, and so much more!
Last month in our “60 Years of Heart” blog we talked about how God grew the small seed of an idea into the tree of ministry known as Heartland Center and Camps. Since then, the Lord has planted thousands of seeds at the ACA (American Camping Association) accredited camp and retreat center.
This month we’re sharing the seed stories of two of our newest summer staff members. In the summer of 2017, God called Jana Life and Jenna Lillian to serve at Heartland Camps.
Ohio native Jana Life was torn between getting an internship that would help prepare her for a job after college and working at a new camp. When Jana came across the Marketing Internship Program she felt she had found the best of both worlds. After Michael Megraw the program director got back to her right away, Jana thought to herself “I guess I’m going to Missouri!”
This week at Work Camp we have dedicated ourselves to deepening our relationships with the Lord through service. This has taken shape in a project to spruce up the Highlander Cabins as well as many other mini missions around camp.
It is so hard for us to put this ministry into an infographic. So much of what we do is relationship based, you can't measure the depth of friendships built or the impact of belong to a Body of Christ for a week. That being said we are incredibly grateful for what the Lord has done at Heartland this last year. We are humbled that God chooses to work through our ministry, check out our summer by the numbers in the infographic below:
