Jesus is the best foundation for a person's life. Through Him, we can seek hope, peace, purpose and eternal life. Learning faith, just like learning a language is best done through an immersion experience. At Heartland Summer Camp, campers will be immersed in scripture, song and Christian community. If that faith experience involves zip lines, rock walls, horses, archery, creek walks, and swimming all the better!
Specifically, Heartland is dedicated to ministry through personal relationships, this is how Jesus chose to do it with 12 disciples and we want to follow that model. We have structured all our programs around building close relationships. Each camper is part of a "family group" of around 12-14 campers. This group does everything together from morning Bible study to activities, like swimming, horse back riding and nightly worship. By the end of the week, our hope is they are a close camp family. These small groups ensure that your camper isn't just a face in a crowd but personally known. Able to talk with their counselors and fellow campers deeply about faith, personal life, and exactly what super hero would be best at delivering pizza.
Our counselors will journey with their small group of campers through a weekly curriculum focused on the foundations of faith and a personal relationship with Jesus. We tie in our lessons with crafts and games to encourage our campers to live a Christ-like life extending past the summer.
We believe our best quality is our exceptional summer college age staff, they are the key to our relational ministry. Their love for campers and dedication to helping them understand what living a life for Christ looks like never ceases to amaze us. Our hope is that each camper grows a strong foundation for a genuine Christ-centered life. Our trained counselors are positive Christian role models who encourage campers to make the most of their time at Heartland and hold onto the lessons they learned and the friends they made.
Heartland Summer Camp interviews and selects exceptional and qualified Christian young adults who will be camp directors, counselors and other staff (such as horse wranglers or kitchen crew). The camp performs national and local background checks on each applicant, and trains those who are hired for their particular positions. The staff also completes a two week training session. Counselors are at least 18 years old.
All staff are CPR/First Aid trained and certified should any emergency situation arise.
